The medical office nurse is responsible for providing excellent customer service. This position is responsible for providing direct patient care and utilizes the nursing process to assess and develop a patient care plan in collaboration with the physician and his treatment plan. The medical office nurse is responsible for receiving and triaging incoming calls requiring nursing assessment and intervention. This position is responsible for utilizing available tools and resources to provide the patient with education, specialty referral/authorization assistance and community programs necessary for the coordination of care along the continuum. The medical office nurse has the knowledge, experience, interpersonal skills and behavior appropriate to serve as a resource for internal and external customers regarding patient care. This position reports to the Manager and is non-exempt. This position will also be assisting in the department's Coumadin Clinics and the stress lab. Requirements: Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Experience: 3-5 years experience in area of office specialty. Physician office experience preferred. Training: Formal or informal telephone nursing. License: Florida RN license or license eligible. Other: Communication skills and basic knowledge of computers required.
