Classification Title: Application Programmer I Job Description: Write, test, debug, and document web based and Windows applications Analyze IT needs for staff and other users; determine appropriate software and web applications Meet with JWRU staff and serve as a consultant to expand, improve,and simplify IT services using the department's productivity suite Customize current web applications to fit the functions and needs of the department Write code for departmental applications that are informative and can interact with a Structured Query Language (SQL) database Stay knowledgeable of current code authoring and web standards; create clean structured code that is properly documented Follow current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines to ensure web pages are accessible Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with software and web applications; develop and implement appropriate solutionsManage departmental databases and web sites as directed Create stored procedures, packages, and jobs to manage the SQL server databases Create a backup procedure for databases and maintain up-to-date back-ups for all data Optimize and update existing databases and web sites Update databases and web servers as needed Provide general IT system support Diagnose hardware, software, and user problems; develop and implement appropriate solution(s) Perform hardware and software installations as directed Maintain up-to-date and effective security for websites, ensuring sites are secure from breaches Develop reports, handle special projects, and perform other duties as assigned Advertised Salary: $48,000; commensurate with experience and education Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
